Buff City Soap

My daughter introduced us to Buff City Soap. She worked there while attending college in West Virginia. I was extremely happy to find out there are 5 locations in the Cincinnati area.

I have struggled with sensitive skin issues throughout my life with most soaps and lotions leaving my skin red, irritated and itchy. Now I have a wide range of products that I can use and the variety of scents are amazing. They even carry men’s and scent-free products.

Buff City Soap handmakes items ranging from Soap Bars and Bath Bombs to Epsom Salts and Laundry Soap. Their products are handmade daily in each of our local Soap Makeries. The plant based soaps are free of harsh chemicals, detergents, and animal fats. You can shop on-line or in their stores. The employees in the stores are always so friendly and helpful. Don’t forget to sign up for their sale reminders. https://buffcitysoap.com/

You can book Bath Bomb and Soap Making Parties where your guests can enjoy:

  • A private shopping experience

  • Personalized consultation

  • Learn about ingredients and products

  • Learn how to make Bath Bombs & Soap Bars

  • Keep the products they make!

For my daughter’s wedding shower, I purchased bars of soap in a variety of scents. I asked them to cut each bar into 3 little bars which they did while I waited. It didn’t take long and they were very helpful. I wrapped each little bar with a piece of paper printed with “From (my daughter’s name) shower to yours” and tied it closed with a colored twine. The little soaps made great favors for people to take home from the shower.

The products we use the most:

Soap Bars

The bars of soap are made with a blend of coconut oil, olive oil, palm oils and phthalate and paraben free fragrances. Some of my favorite scents are Coconut, Pink Sugar, Good Morning Sunshine and Price is Right (a local scent I got at the Western Hills store in Cincinnati). They also sell accessories for your soap like soap dishes and soap sleeves. The soap sleeves are a cross between soap on a rope and a mesh bath sponge. You just slide your bar of soap inside, pull the drawstring closed and hang it in your shower.

Body Butter

The body butter is made with a mixture of shea butter, olive oil and phthalate and paraben free fragrances. It moisturizes your skin and leaves you smelling good for hours. I use this after every shower I take. My legs are no longer dry from not using lotion or, if I did use lotion, a red, itchy, stinging mess. The bottoms of my feet (especially my heels) and my elbows are no longer dry and rough. During the winter, I no longer have dry patches on my face. This stuff is amazing! Coconut is my favorite scent of Body Butter.

Shower Fizzy

The shower fizzies are made with Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides for an aromatherapeutic experience. You place the fizzy on your shower floor under the direct stream of water. The lady working at Buff City Soap recommended breaking it up and putting it in the corner of the shower so it would get wet but not disintegrate right away. I put the shower fizzy in a Ziploc bag and tapped it a few times with a hammer to break it into chunks. Sprinkling some in the shower worked well and will last me three or four showers this way. I have tried the Good Morning Sunshine shower fizzy so far and really like it. I also bought Breathe and Hey Headache which I’m sure I will be trying soon with it being allergy season in Cincinnati.

Laundry Soap

The laundry soap is made with a blend of coconut oil, citric acid, washing powder and phthalate and paraben free fragrances. Add 2 Tablespoons directly to the drum of your washing machine to clean, soften and leave your clothes smelling wonderful. They even sell little wooden measuring scoops for your detergent. The container seems small and pricey compared to the liquid laundry bottles that I was buying at the grocery store. But if you couple that with all the bottles of laundry scent beads I was going through, Buff City Laundry Soap is a much better deal. It takes less product, smells better and is free of harsh chemicals. Three of our favorite scents are Aloe Clover, Magnolia and Good Morning Sunshine. If they don’t have the scent you are looking for, a lot of times, they will mix up a batch for you.

I would highly recommend Buff City Soap. Click here to find a location near you or order on-line.
